Tickets are now available for the Annual Pilgrim Fathers Lecture and we are delighted to announce that the speaker is the Rt Hon Lady Justice Black.

The annual Pilgrim Fathers lecture commemorates the Pilgrim Fathers voyage to America in 1620 and traditionally embodied themes of freedom and human rights.
The Rt Hon Lady Justice Black is the latest in a long list of distinguished members of the legal profession to present the lecture.
The lecture, organised by the Plymouth Law Society and hosted by Plymouth University and Plymouth City Council, has become a celebrated annual event in the legal profession calendar, attracting current and past Lord Chancellors, Lord Justices of Appeal and Lords of Appeal.
About the speaker: The Right Honourable Dame Jill Margaret Black DBE
Lady Justice Black was appointed to the High Court on 1 October 1999 where she was assigned to the Family Division.
Whilst in the High Court, she tried family law cases and administrative law cases. She also carried out a number of other functions as part of her judicial role. She was the Family Division Liaison Judge for the Northern Circuit from 2000 to 2004, then chairman of the Judicial Studies Board’s Family Committee from 2004 to 2008. In 2008 she was appointed a judicial commissioner on the Judicial Appointments Commission, where she served until 2013, latterly as Vice Chairman of the Commission.
In June 2010, she was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal and continues to serve in that capacity in the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. She was appointed to the Privy Council in 2011.
In 2013, she was appointed Head of the Office of International Family Justice for England and Wales.
