The much-anticipated Annual Plymouth Law Society Dinner took place on Friday 3rd October and as part of the evening’s celebration a total amount of £5,691 was raised for the chosen charity. This year that charity was Plymouth Highbury Trust, an organisation that helps those with learning difficulties in the region.

Held at Plymouth Argyle Football Club, the Black Tie event hosted over 300 Solicitors, Barristers and guests and included a drinks reception and dinner, the annual Presidential speech and entertainment afterwards that went on late into the night. The funds raised came from donations over the course of the evening as well as a £10 levy on every full price ticket sold.

Plymouth Highbury Trust is a charity that provides a diverse range of services and social events for people with learning disabilities that live in the City of Plymouth. Their mission is to ensure that individuals with learning disabilities gain the support, care, experiences and the opportunity to live their lives to the full. It started out as a self-help and support group with the aim of improving the services available for people with a learning disability and it has continued to establish itself and grow over the ensuring years.

Commenting on the event, President of the Plymouth Law Society, Jennifer Phillips said: “The Plymouth Law Society’s Annual Dinner is always a highly anticipated and much-loved event in the city’s legal calendar. As much as it’s an occasion for the profession to get together and celebrate; it’s also an opportunity to raise vital funds for this year’s chosen charity, Plymouth Highbury Trust. The generosity shown by everyone on the night is phenomenal and has helped us raise a significant amount of money for Plymouth Highbury Trust, who do an incredible job helping those with learning disabilities and difficulties within the city. I’d like to personally thank everyone who attended, donated or sponsored the event; and for making it such a memorable and successful night.”
