Are you affected by trauma?

We know that many of our members can encounter trauma related issues in their work on a regular basis which can have a real impact on mental health for themselves, other team members and their clients. For example, lawyers exposed to serious criminal cases; divorce and care lawyers dealing with family break ups; and medical lawyers involved in tragic circumstances. It can and does take its toll. So we have taken action with the University of Plymouth to hold an event which looks into these issues in more detail and enables you to seek advice and support.

There will be presentations from:

  • Dr Anna Gough – Consultant Clinical Psychologist
  • Vicky Brooks – Trauma-Informed Network Plymouth
  • Natasha Hill – Devon and Cornwall Police Mental Health Team

They will explore themes around Trauma-Informed Practice, vicarious and secondary trauma on legal professionals, and mental health (as professionals). In addition, there will be an opportunity for open discussions and an interactive workshop.

This free event is open to members and non-members because we want to reach as many local lawyers as possible to provide support. Therefore, please feel free to share this event with legal professionals who could benefit from the event. We hope to explore this issue in more depth during 2024.

Date: Wednesday 24th January

Time: 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Venue: Plymouth University, Roland Levinsky Building Room 206/207
