The Women in Law Pledge calls on organisations to commit to gender balance at all levels in the legal profession, addressing the gender pay gap and other inequalities affecting women in law. Now in its fifth year, the pledge has 54 organisations committed to gender equality and inclusion.
How Local Law Societies can support
- Champion the pledge: Encourage local organisations to sign up.
- Engagement campaign: Help boost engagement with the pledge through our promotional campaign as increasing visibility and engagement is crucial to the future success of the pledge.
- Raise awareness: Use newsletters, social media, and local media to share stories and statistics to encourage positive change for equality. Organise events featuring prominent local women solicitors.
- Collaborative branding: Help promote our work using the new pledge champion branding (joint with the Bar Council and CILEX).
More information will be published on our website over the next couple of months. If your Society is interested in signing up to the pledge as a champion or would like a speaker from the Law Society for an event, please contact [email protected].
Other guidance and resources
We have recently published new guidance to support Black, Asian or minority ethnic students entering the profession, new guidance on disability terminology, and a new impact story. We are keen to share examples of best practice where an activity or project has had impact. Get in touch with the team to share your impact story to support our Diversity and Inclusion Framework.
