Jennifer Phillips, a Lawyer from within Plymouth City Council’s Legal Services Team has been announced as the new President of the Plymouth Law Society for 2025/26.
Having qualified as a Solicitor in 2017, Jennifer has risen to become the new President alongside a new committee made up of the following: Chris Hoile, The Range, as Vice President; James Walsh, GA Solicitors, as Treasurer; Rhodri Davey, Kitson Boyce, as Honorary Secretary; Steven Hudson, Gard and Co as Council Member and Luke Fisher, University of Plymouth, as Curator of the Law Library.
Formed in 1815, Plymouth Law Society represents solicitors in the city and surrounding areas to maintain the standards of the profession through training, sharing best practice and providing a collective voice for its members.
Commenting on the announcement, Jennifer Phillips said: “I’d like to pay tribute to Carrie Laws as the outgoing President who has done an outstanding job in the last calendar year, she has set a new benchmark for the role and will be tough to follow. During this year I have decided to focus on two very clear and definitive goals. Firstly, how the Law Society can prioritise the people of Plymouth and secondly on the wellbeing of Lawyers that we represent in the city. These are the goals that I hope to be judged on positively this time next year.”
The other elected committee members for 2025 are: Carrie Laws, Family Law Company (Immediate Past President); Rebecca Wood, Woollcombe Yonge; Neil Major and Marija Emberson, Foot Anstey; Alisa Willows and Sam Loveridge, Wolferstans; Craig Moore and Adam Richards, Womble Bond Dickinson; Jonathan Madge and Julia Robson, Family Law Company; Carly Jeffery, Bright LLP; Alison Critchfield, Plymouth City Council.
Plymouth Law Society has over 30 members and associate organisations from Plymouth and travel to work areas from high street to international firms together with its official partners Acronyms, Conveyancing Data Services, Fuel, Handelsbanken, Insight6, KE Costs, Marsh UK, Review Solicitors, Sanderson Weatherall and Westcotts.
